in May of 1998 and have built a successful independent Family Medicine Practice serving the community for the past 23 years.

Dr Guiles-Lachina is married to Joseph Lachina and is the proud mom of six beautiful children, Joe, Giana, Jillian, and triplet sons, Mark, John, and Andrew Lachina.

Dr. Maria A. Braun was born in Madrid, Spain. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Colegio Madre Alberta, Palma de Majorca, Spain. She attended

University of Barcelona Medical School, Hospital Clinico

graduating with an MD degree in 1986.

She then moved with her family to the United States and obtained her US and PA Medical licenses through ECFMG, Education Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates.

Dr. Braun completed a 3-year Family Medicine Residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital,

currently Penn State Health St. Joseph, Reading, PA, serving as co-chief resident in her senior year, graduating in 1992.

Dr. Braun is bilingual in Spanish and English, studied French for eight years and can also understand Catalan and Majorquin languages. She feels grateful for the contributions of her diverse family and her rich multicultural background.

Dr. Braun is board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians and is a member of the medical staff at both Penn State Health St Joseph Hospital and Reading Hospital-Tower Health, Reading, PA. She has also been a long time member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Berks County Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the PA Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Braun and her group are also members of the Pennsylvania Medical Society Clinical Integrated Network of Independent Physician Practices and Tower Health Providers group. Dr. Braun and Dr. Guiles-Lachina are proud to have been able to remain in independent private practice for the last 25+ years and counting. This is a true rarity these days - not being bought by a hospital system or large corporation.

We are a true "endangered species" in the medical community.

Dr. Braun resides in Wyomissing with her husband. Both her son and daughter are Penn State University graduates. Dr Braun’s son recently started medical school  after 4 years of work at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia doing neuroblastoma research.

Dr. Braun loves spending time with her family and friends and tries to visit her relatives in Spain once a year. She enjoys music, reading, art history, nature walks, and tennis.

She even learned to play classical Spanish guitar.

Dr. Braun enjoys the wonderful music, cultural and art events

that the city of Reading and the Philadelphia have to offer.

Dr. Braun has been very happy practicing Family Medicine for almost 30 years in our community. Serving the healthcare needs of many families in Berks County has been a true privilege for her and her group.
